Run machine Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, dropped a big statement as he revealed that the Indian cricket legend is planning to move to London with his family. In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Sharma confirmed when asked about Kohli’s future plans after retirement, saying, “Yes, Virat is planning to move to London. He’ll leave India very soon.”
If we look at the recent news as well, the question of Virat Kohli leaving India has become a hot topic, as he is often spotted in London during breaks between international series. We have seen pictures of him after the Sri Lanka tour, and even more recently, he has been seen spending time with his family in London.
Could Virat Kohli’s move to the UK Impact His participation in IPL?
Just like the confirmation about him moving to London permanently, a few months ago, rumors also surfaced that Kohli might decide to take British citizenship. If that happens, we’ll see some changes in his IPL playing status. Although dual citizenship is allowed for British citizens, India does not permit dual citizenship, meaning Kohli would have to surrender his Indian passport if he opts for it. As a result, Virat would have to play as a foreign player in the IPL if he relocates.
Currently, Virat Kohli is in Australia playing in the Border-Gavaskar Series. In the first Test at Perth, he smashed an impressive 100, marking his 81st international century. However, the second and third Tests didn’t go well for him, and we saw his struggles against deliveries outside the off-stump. It will be interesting to see how things unfold for him in the upcoming games.
