Visionary businessman Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of the Tata Group, breathed his last on October 9 at 86 years of age

Members of the Indian sports fraternity, led by cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma, paid tribute to the late chairman emeritus of the Tata Group Ratan Tata. The visionary industrialist breathed his last on October 9. Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, former cricketers and other athletes took to social media platforms to pay their respects to Tata.

It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” said N Chandrasekaran, Tata Sons chairman in a statement.

One of Tata’s significant contributions is the establishment of the Tata Football Academy (TFA). He has also supported other sports like cricket, hockey, and archery and has sponsored various sporting events and initiatives, providing a platform for Indian athletes to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.

Ratan Tata will be accorded a state funeral with full honours, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announced.
