Legendary Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar met India’s renowned tea seller Dolly Chaiwala during the International League T20 (ILT20) tournament. Both met before the match between Gulf Giants and MI Emirates. Akhtar posted on his ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) account, praising Dolly Chaiwala for his delightful personality, saying, “Ran into Dolly Chaiwala at the stadium. What a lovely character with an inspiring story.” Dolly Chaiwala has gained fame for his distinctive chai-making style and engaging videos, which have captivated audiences across India. He became an internet sensation after a video of him serving his signature chai to Bill Gates went viral.

What happened in the ILT20 on 31st January?

On 31st January, MI Emirates secured a thrilling victory over Gulf Giants, winning by five wickets in the 26th match of the ILT20 at Dubai. Chasing a target of 174, MI Emirates reached 174/5 in 19.1 overs, thanks to a standout performance from Nicholas Pooran, who remained unbeaten with 58 runs off 37 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes. Pooran’s efforts earned him the Player of the Match award. Gulf Giants had earlier posted 173/6 in their 20 overs, led by a strong innings from captain James Vince, who scored 86 off 50 balls. Despite Vince’s performance, the Giants couldn’t defend their total, with MI Emirates’ bowling attack proving decisive in the chase.

Aayan Afzal Khan impressed with the ball for MI Emirates, taking two crucial wickets for just nine runs in his two overs. Romario Shepherd also contributed significantly with a quickfire 23 not out to help MI Emirates achieve the target with five balls to spare.
