Coco Gauff vs Veronika Kudermetova
Coco Gauff fought off a deciding-set comeback from Veronika Kudermetova to reach the second round of the Porsche Grand Prix on Wednesday, and Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina beat Jule Niemeier.
Seeded fifth on the Stuttgart clay, Gauff needed nearly three hours to beat Kudermetova 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (3). Her Russian opponent won four straight games to take the second set from 4-2 down and came back from 5-3 down in the decider to force a tiebreaker before Gauff finally secured the win. The 19-year-old American player will face Anastasia Potapova next.
Elena Rybakina vs Jule Niemier
Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina beat Jule Niemeier in the first round at Stuttgart Open 2023. Rybakina won five games in a row to seal a 7-5, 6-3 win over Niemeier after she had been 3-1 down in the second set. She goes on to play Beatriz Haddad Maia.

World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka became the first player to reach the quarterfinals at this year’s Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, cruising past 12th-ranked Barbora Krejcikova 6-2, 6-3 in just 1 hour and 15 minutes on Wednesday night.
Reigning Australian Open champion Sabalenka is searching for her first Stuttgart title after reaching the final the last two seasons. Sabalenka finished as runner-up to Ashleigh Barty in 2021 and to Iga Swiatek in 2022.
Sabalenka now holds a 5-1 win-loss record over Krejcikova in total. Wednesday’s victory was also Sabalenka’s 21st match-win of the season, behind only Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina, who have each won 22 matches so far this year.
