Taipei Open 2023: Draws, Schedule, Prize Money, All You need to know about Taipei Open 2023

Following the Indonesia Open, the Asian leg of the BWF Tour is set to move to Chinese Taipei. Taipei Open, the Super 300 event is all set to kickstart from 20th June 2023, Tuesday. Chinese Taipeii's local favourites Chou Tien Chen and Tai Tzu Ying, who are also the defending champions in singles will headline action in the tournament. HS Prannoy will lead India's challenge in the tournament.

Taipei Open 2023: Following the Indonesia Open, the Asian leg of the BWF Tour is set to move to Chinese Taipei. Taipei Open, the Super 300 event is all set to kickstart from 20th June 2023, Tuesday. Chinese Taipeii’s local favourites Chou Tien Chen and Tai Tzu Ying, who are also the defending champions in singles will headline action in the tournament. HS Prannoy will lead India’s challenge in the tournament. He is the third seed and will aim to clinch his second title in the tour this season. Taipei Open is the 15th tournament in the tour this season.

Men’s Singles

HS Prannoy will spearhead India’s challenge in the tournament. World No.9 Prannoy is seeded third and will take on a qualifier in the men’s singles opening round of the BWF World Tour Super 300 event. He is entering the tournament after bowing out from the semifinals at the Indonesia Open. He is in the third quarter of the draw.

The quarter also has another Indian in Meiraba Maisnam. The 20-year old will be making his debut in the BWF Tour this season. Maisnam will face fifth seed Angus Ng Ka Long in the first round. Long is likely to set up clash against Prannoy in the quarterfinal.

Former Junior World No.1 Sankar Subramanian also made it to the main draw in the tournament. He is in the first quarter of the draw and will be facing sixth seed Kanta Tsuneyama in the first round. Parupalli Kashyap has also received a wildcard entry in the tournament. He will face a qualifier in the first round.

Kiran George, who reached the quarterfinal at the Thailand Open will be in action at Taipei. He is in the third quarter and will face Leong Jun Hao in the first round. Fourth seed Kenta Nishimoto and eighth seed Chico Dwi Wardoyo are the seeded players in the quarter.

Satish Karunakaran and Mithun Manjunath are in the final quarter. Manjunath takes on second seed Chou Tien Chen in the first round. Karunakaran meanwhile faces Chi Yu Jen.

Women’s Singles

India’s Tanya Hemnath is in the first quarter of the draw. Tanya returns to action in the BWF Tour after the Orleans Masters. She will face Agnes Korosi in the first round. If she makes it to the second round, she is likely to face top seed and World No.3 Tai Tzu Ying.

Aakarshi Kashyap is the highest ranked Indian Women in Singles. She will be facing Huang Yu Hsun of Chinese Taipei in the first round. The only seeded player in the quarter is seventh seed Kim Ga-eun. Another Indian player in GR Shivani will also be in action. She will face Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Pin-chian in the first round.

Men’s Singles

In the Men’s Singles, Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala are the only Indians in the draw. They are seeded eighth in the tournament and will begin their campaign by facing Vinson Chiu and Joshua Yuan of Malalaysia. The other seeded pair in the draw is the second seed Lu Ching-yao and Yang Po-haan.

The Indian duo will be facing either Chen Zhi Yi and Presley Smith of Mallayysia or Chinese Taipei’s Wei Chun-wei and Wu Guan-xun in the second round.

Women’s Singles

Rutuparna Pana and Swethaparna Panda are the only Women’s Doubles Indian pair in the tournament. The Panda Sisters will take on Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yu-pei or Sun Wen-pei in the opening round. They are present in the first quarter and are likely to face top seed Febriana Kusuma and Amalia Pratiwi in the second round.

Two Indian Mixed Doubles duo have made it to the main draw. Bokka Navaneeth and Priya Konjengbam and Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy will be in action in the tournament. Both the pair will be facing each other in the first round. They are in the third quarter. Third seeded Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Mentari and eighth seeded Chan Peng Soon and Cheah Yee See are the seeded pairs in the quarter.
