Sudirman Cup 2023– Thailand defeated Canada 4-1 for their second win in Group B at the BWF Sudirman Cup Finals in Suzhou, China, on Tuesday. Indonesia too beat Germany 4-1 for their second victory on Tuesday. Both Indonesia and Thailand have now qualified for the quarterfinals. Indonesia vs Germany

Mixed Doubles pair Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Mentari defeated Germany’s Jones Jansen and Linda Efler in straight games to win the Mixed Doubles tie in the contest. Jonathan Christie, who then played his firts game of the tournament sailed past Fabian Roth in the Men’s Singles. The Indonesian clinched a 21-18, 21-17 win to make it 2-0 for his team.

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung meanwhile was also doinant against Yvonne Li. Tunjung clinched a 21-8, 21-14 win. The only victory for Germany on the day came soon with the Men’s Doubles pair Mark Lamfuss and Marvin Seidel defeating Leo Carnando and Daniel Marthin.

In the final Women’s Doubles contest, Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Ramadhanti then made it 4-1 for Indonesia. They defeated Stine Kuespert and Emma Moszczynski in straight games.

Thailand vs Canada

Thai mixed doubles pair Supak Jomkoh and Supissara Kaewsampran beat Ty Alexander Lindeman and Jodephine Wu 21-16, 21-12 in the opening match. Men’s singles star Kantaphon Wangcharoen fell to Brian Yang 21-17, 22-20 in the second match as Canada pulled level.

Ratchanok Intanon then gave Thailand an edge after she battled past Michelle Li 21-14, 18-21, 22-20 in the women’s singles tie. Men’s doubles duo Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh beat Adam Dong and Nyl Yakura 21-19, 21-8. Aimsaard sisters Benyapa and Nuntakarn wrapped up the tie for Thailand with a 21-5, 21-14 victory over Catherine Choi and Wu.

China vs Singapore

China and Singapore will clash in a blockbuster contest on the day. While China won their first group match against Eguyp, SIngapore suffered defeat against Denmark.

In the Men’s Singles, World No.10 Lu Guangzhu is expected to play in the tournament for the first time this year. He is set to face World No.8 Loh Kean Yew. Both the players have met twice and the Singaporean leads the head-to-head record 2-0.

In the Women’s Singles, China’s Chen Yufei is likely to be rested. Either He Bing Jiao or Wang Zhi Yi is expected to face to take on Yeo Jia Min, who is ranked 35th in the world.

China has an option of fielding World No.5 pair Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi or World No.9 Liang Weikeng or Wang Chang. One of the pairs will face Terry Hee and Loh Kean Hean. The hosts also have the World No.1 pair in both the Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles and they are the clear favourites in the upcoming contest.

Denmark vs Egypt

Denmark will have an easy outing against Egypt. Denmark are expected to test their bench strength and World No.1 Viktor Axelsen will most likely be not in action. Rasmus Gemke, ranked 21st i likely to feature in the Men’s singles and he is expected to face Adan Hatem Elagamal,who is ranked outside the Top 100.

Against China, none of the Egyptian players managed to even win a game in their contest. With no player ranked within the Top 50, the goa for the team will be to atleast to try and manage to win a game in the contest against a strong Denmark.
