Priyanshu Rajawat vs Chi Yu Jen
Priyanshu Rajawat has entered his first semifinal in the BWF Tour this season. He defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen 21-18, 21-18. The World No.58 will now face Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen in the semifinals.
The match started off with Jen taking an early lead in the first game. Rajawat however fought back and levelled the scores 8-8. Both the players fought tooth and nail. But Rajawat managed to enter the interval with a two-point lead.
Rajawat continued to maintain his slender lead. From 16-15, he took three successive points and went up 19-15. A cross court smash from Rajawat soon followed that took him to game point. Jen saved two game points but a net-error from him helped Rajawat win the game 21-18.
In the second game too, the same pattern followed with Jen having taken a early lead. Rajawat started slowly but soon managed to reduce the deficit. Jen was trailing 9-10. But he misjudged a leave at the backline that helped Rajawat level the scores 10-10. Another wide shot from the Taiwanese helped Rajawat enter the interval with a 11-10 lead.
Priyanshu Rajawat takes three points on the trot and went up 14-11. From the on, the Indian maintained his lead and went up 20-15. Jen saved three match points. But a smash down the line from Rajawat helped him clinch the match.
MR Arjun/Dhruv Kapila vs Leo Carnando/Daniel Marthin
MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila started off the contest on a positive note. They took a 7-3 lead early on in the first game. However, the Indonesian pair took five points on the tort and levelled the scores 8-8. Neck-to-neck battle ensued and the Indians managed to enter the interval with a 11-9 lead.
After the interval, both the pairs gave a good fight as the neck-to-neck battle continued. At 17-16, the Indian pair went up with three straight points to get to the game point. A net-error from the Indonesians helped them win the first game 21-16.
In the second game, the Indonesians dominated the contest with 10 straight points at the start. The Indians managed just a solitary point before the interval. The one way traffic continued as the Indonesians took the match into the third game by winning the second 21-11.
In the final game, the Indians made a good comeback and took 7-3 lead early in the game to start with. But the lkead didn’t last long enough as From 5-7, the Indonesians took three successive points to go up 7-8. Both the pairs were indulged in a good fight and the Indians entered the interval with 11-9 lead.
The slender difference continued for the remaining of the game. Indonesian duo got to the match point with a 20-18 lead. The Indians saved couple of match points and levelled the scores 20-20. However a net-error from Kapila gave another match point to their opponents. Another werror from Kapila, this time a wide shot, helped the second seeded Indonesians win the contest.
