Indonesia vs Thailand

Indonesia lost 2-3 in the 2023 Sudirman Cup group B against Thailand. The clash between the two countries took place at Square 1 of the Suzhou Olympic Sports Center, Suzhou, China, on Thursday.

Both teams have been advanced to the quarter-finals. Indonesia fell behind first after the mixed doubles pair, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, surrendered to Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai, 17-21, 19-21.

Thailand then won the next two parties, to win 0-3 over Indonesia. Indonesian men’s singles player, Jonatan Christie, lost after playing a rubber game against Kunlavut Vitidsarn. Jojo lost 21-12, 12-21, 20-22.

While women’s singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani, was defeated by Pornpawee Chochuwong, with a score of 21-15, 14-21, and 17-21.

But while Canada bounced back to beat Germany 3-2 Thursday, previous losses meant both teams failed to qualify for the next round.

China vs Denmark

Hosts China defeated a Danish side 5-0 on Thursday to win their group at the Sudirman Cup 2023. Mixed doubles duo Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong put the holders ahead after defeating Mathias Thyrri and Amalie Magelund 21-9, 21-19.

In the Men’s SIngles, Li Shifeng defeated Rasmus Gemke in three games. Li won the first set 21-15 but the Dane fought back to take the second set 21-16. Li then bounced back after trailing in the third game to claim the tie.

Olympic women’s singles champion Chen Yufei eased past Line Christophersen 21-8, 21-11 to secure the tie for the hosts. In the next two matches, Doubles pairs Liu Yuchen/Ou Xuanyi and Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan won their contests in straight sets.
