Shakib is ranked third in the number of matches played and the most runs made for Bangladesh in ODI cricket. In 235 matches, he has made 7211 runs at an average of 37.55, with 9 centuries (second most for Bangladesh) to his name. The left-hander holds the record for taking the most wickets for Bangladesh. He has 305 wickets at an average of just under 29 and an economy of 4.44.

He holds the record for most wickets at a single ground (131) at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. He’s also third in most runs (2656) at a single ground, behind teammates Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim.

Shakib al Hasan’s record as ODI captain

Shakib has captained his side in 50 ODIs. Out of these 50 games, Southpaw has won 23 and lost 26; one ended in a no-result. His win/loss percentage is 46, which makes him the 3rd most successful Bangladesh skipper of all time (more than 5 matches) behind Tamim Iqbal and Mashrafe Mortaza.
