Shaheen Afridi set to marry for second time after Asia Cup 2023, here’s why

Notably, Shaheen Afridi and Shahid Afridi's daughter, Ansha got married for first time in February this year.

Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi is set to marry the daughter of former captain Shahid Afridi, Ansha Afridi, for second time. According to reports, the couple will have another wedding in Pakistan on September 19, 2 days after the final of Asia Cup 2023.

Notably, Shaheen Afridi and Ansha’s first marriage took place in February this year. Only close relatives and friends of the couple, including captain Babar Azam and Shadab Khan attended the wedding.

However, the couple now wants to celebrate their special day in grand manner and therefore planning a second wedding.

Shaheen is currently in Sri Lanka for the Super 4 matches in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The 23-year-old is currently the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup 2023 with 7 wickets in 3 matches. His best performance so far has been in IND vs PAK where he took 4/35 to help Men in Green restrict India to 266 in a rain-curtailed match. The 23-year-old is now gearing up for Super 4 clash against Pakistan’s arch-rivals.

However, the second IND vs PAK is also likely to see the interruption of rain. In order to have a complete match, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have added a reserve day to the IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 game. Notably, it is the only match apart from the final to have a reserve day. The change to the playing conditions was made after weather forecast suggested heavy rains during matchday. Notably, ACC President Jay Shah has been under fire for not shifting the Super 4 matches from Colombo despite heavy rain forecast.
