Sevilla vs Roma: Roma are having a mediocre season as they only have hopes of participating in next year’s Europa League once again at best. Hence, they will be desperate to get the win against Sevilla in the final to be able to participate in next year’s Champions League group stage. As they get back two key players Paolo Dybala and Leonardo Spinazzola ahead of the match, they will be confident to field their best XI against Sevilla. Roma coach Jose Mourinho has an amazing success rate in European competitions. He already has 5 European trophies to his name. He is the one that helped Roma win the Europa Conference League last year by beating Feyenoord in the final.

He will be looking for consecutive European titles by defeating Europa League’s most successful team, Sevilla this year. If Mourinho manages to win this year, he will become the European competition’s most decorated manager. Even though the season is not going well for them in Serie A, winning this will be a good end to the season.

If Mourinho prevails Wednesday, he will have won the Europa League with three clubs. Previously, he won the trophy with Manchester United in 2017 and Porto in 2003. Roma will be playing a final in European competition for the fifth time in their history. Facing the competition’s most decorated club, Sevilla, Roma will be the underdogs. Adding to the factor, their form in Serie A does not help them. They are currently sitting in the 6th position in the league table with only one league match left to play.

Depending on the last matchweek results of their neighbours in the league table, at best, Roma can end the season in the 5th position. Hence, if they don’t win Europa League, they will be missing out on next year’s Champions League. That’s why, Mourinho will be leaning on the result of this match to a great extent. He has already shown his hand as to how important this match is to him by benching his key players this weekend against Fiorentina.

Compared to the squad that lost against Fiorentina this weekend, it can be expected that Mourinho will almost change the entire squad for this match against Sevilla. Both Paolo Dybala and Leonardo Spinazzola are back after recovering from their injuries. Even if Dybala is unable to play for the entire match, he will probably at least come in as a substitute.

On the other hand, Spinazzola has started full training from the beginning of this week. Hence, he will probably start the match. The injured players who will miss the match are – Nemanja Matic, Marash Kumbulla, and Rick Karsdrop.

Goalkeeper Rui Patricio missed the match against Fiorentina due to some physical issues. However, he could be available for this match, so he will probably take the place under the goalpost. Mancini, Smalling, and Ibanez will form the backline. Pellegrini, El Shaarawy, and Abraham will lead the attack line, while Celik, Cristante, Matic, and Spinazzola will provide help from the midfield.

Roma Predicted XI: Patricio; Mancini, Smalling, Ibanez; Celik, Cristante, Matic, Spinazzola; Pellegrini, El Shaarawy; Abraham
