Team India continues their search to replace Rishabh Pant. Since the horrible accident, India has been left with just a couple of options in hand. After giving a chance to KS Bharat in the home series and the WTC Finals, Rahul Dravid has now given the nod to Ishan Kishan, who made his Test debut in the first Test match against West Indies.
Truth be told, it will be very difficult to replace a player with Rishabh Pant’s standard. Despite having not played Test cricket for the last 7 months, Pant still remains the highest scorer for India in Test cricket for the last 3 years.

KS Bharat has been a decent keeper in red-ball cricket but Rohit Sharma and Co are on the lookout for a keeper who has good batting prowess and this is why Ishan Kishan got the nod for the match.
As for Rishabh Pant, the 25-year-old cricketer continues his recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. After undergoing multiple surgeries, he is on a fast road to recovery. Should he manage to recover in time, he can be selected for the World Cup squad, though its prospect is highly unlikely.
Yashasvi Jaiswal & Ishan Kishan make TEST Debut for India vs West Indies
Following Pant’s accident and KL Rahul’s omission from red-ball cricket, India has been left with just two options in terms of wicketkeeping. KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan. Bharat has previously traveled with the Indian team for 14 months as a reserve for Pant before finally getting his chance.
But now that India has begun their third WTC cycle (2023-25), the onus is to keep a keeper ready till Pant gets back his form to join the squad. India has reached the finals of WTC and failed on both occasions, so now the focus is on the team to solidify their positions, and clear out all chinks in the defense.
