Sean O’Malley Suggested the UFC Segregation “WUFC”

He stated, “What if there was a ‘WUFC?. What if they had their own program? Would it last? Would they be able to sell pay-per-views, would it sell out arenas? It’s still the UFC, it’s still Dana, it’s still the UFC pushing these fights and promoting them … would it last?.”

He added, “We’re not saying they’re not good. We’re talking from a pure entertainment point of view. Look at the WNBA, look at the NBA. There is a few girls fights that are very entertaining. There is a few.”

Sean O’Malley has an interesting concept of a “WUFC,” a hypothetical women’s mixed martial arts league that would bring together the best female fighters from around the world. Although he acknowledges that these athletes possess extraordinary skill, O’Malley’s main focus is on the entertainment factor.

He believes that a “WUFC” would be a thrilling spectacle for fans, but it wouldn’t sell the PPV.  O’Malley’s comments suggested that despite being skillful enough fans aren’t willing to watch women’s fight as excitedly they want to watch the men’s to fight. And he thinks the main reason is that the majority of the section is men.
