Chasing 226 to win, Scotland were off to a sedate start with George Munsey and Calum MacLeod struggling to get off the blocks quickly. The duo did put on 62 for the first wicket before the spinners struck gold for the Kiwis. Ish Sodhi spun a web around the Scotland batsmen as they slipped from 62/0 to 88/5 in no time. The rest of the batting failed to make much as Scotland eventually managed to get to 157, handing New Zealand a 68-run win.
Earlier in the day, Finn Allen scored his maiden T20I century as the Kiwis put on a massive 225 on the board. Martin Guptill and Allen put on 85 for the first wicket, with the former becoming the leading run-getter in T20 internationals. Following Guptill’s departure Allen continued his onslaught to reach his ton in style.
James Neesham, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips all chipped in with valuable cameos to help the Kiwis put on a winning score.
