Sanju Samson walked into bat with his side in deep trouble with the ball seaming around. With Mohammed Shami and hardik Pandya in full flow, Sanju dropped anchor as the stiautiomn demanded. He stroked at close to run a ball, with RR’s run rate well below 6 runs an over. However, following the 12th over, Samson went into attack mode.
Facing an on-song Rashid Khan, Samson came out victorious. He cleared the long off fence with a maximum to start of the fence. Rashid adjusted his line but the RR skipper pulled it away in disdain for a maximum. He bowled a similar delivery and Samson once again cleared the fence to bag 18 runs off 3 balls. The over swun the momentum in Rajasthan’s favour considerably.
He eventually reached his half-century in just 27 balls. It was his 19th fifty in IPL cricket, to go along with 3 Hundreds. Samson eventually was dismissed for 60, having smashed 3 fours and 6 sixes in his 32 ball stay at the crease.
