Mirza and Boppana took the first set by the tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5). In WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) rankings, former double world number 1 is currently ranked at 29th position with 2510 points. The six-time Grand Slam title winner Mirza rose to the no. 1 position in the WTA Doubles ranking in April 2015. While Sania in WTA Singles ranking is not placed in the top 100.

India’s ace tennis player Rohan Boppana is positioned at 19th position in the ATP Doubles ranking. Sania is playing her last grand slam event. The six-time grand slam champion announced earlier this month that she will retire at the Dubai Tennis Championships which begins on February 19.

The reason for the walkover in the round of 8 game of Mirza and Bopanna is not yet known and Jelena Ostapenko and Vega Hernandez’s withdrawal is also unidentified. However, earlier in the day Ostapenko suffered a straight-set loss against Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Singles
