AC Milan star Sandro Tonali could be headed to Newcastle United on €70m million fee

AC Milan star Sandro Tonali could be heading for Newcastle United. Tonali's agent was seen discussing his future with Milan's CEO.

Sandro Tonali Transfer: Newcastle United are closing in on signing Sandro Tonali from AC Milan. After having a good season last year around, Newcastle have qualified for next season’s Champions League after 20 years of waiting. Hence, they are looking to revamp their team ahead of next season. For that purpose, they targeted Tonali and spoke to his agent about a possible transfer. Newcastle gave an initial bid of €50 million. However, AC Milan are actually looking for an amount near the region of €70 million.

Sandro Tonali has been a key player for AC Milan since he arrived at the club. Hence, it is a tough decision for them whether they want to sell him or not. Reportedly, Newcastle United have already met with the player’s agent to discuss the matter. Additionally, they have already bid €50 million for the player. Milan have not agreed on the amount and will ask for around €70 million. There is a chance that Newcastle could agree to pay the huge fee to bring the 23-year-old star player.

On top of that, Italy media reported on Wednesday that Tonali’s agent sat down with Milan’s CEO Giorgio Furlani. Over a meal, they discussed Tonali’s future. Leaked photos of the meeting have emerged in the Italian media and sparked controversies in the wake of Newcastle’s interest. The Milan fans have also been in a dilemma over whether to say goodbye to one of their best players or not sell him and miss out on €70 million. Additionally, even though he hasn’t commented on the matter, Tonali could still want to leave Milan.

Newcastle will be paying him double the wage of what he’s earning at Milan. That could work as a motivation for the player to leave. There is still time for Tonali to have a face-to-face meeting with Newcastle. In the meantime, the Magpies are preparing their second bid for the player. If they have to pay €70 million for the player in the end, they will have to structure a deal in a more appropriate way. They could offer a deal with a smaller lump sum along with add-ons.
