Sandeep Sharma’s acrobatic effort had put the visitors in the driver’s seat but a stunning knock by Tim David down the order helped the host to register a famous win. David scored an unbeaten 45 off just 14 balls as MI chase down the mammoth target of 213 with three balls to spare in the final over.
Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal lit up the Wankhede stadium after scoring his maiden IPL century in the 1000th game of IPL. Jaiswal scored 124 off just 62 balls, helping his team post a total of 212 for 7. For Mumbai, young Arshad Khan was the pick of the bowler as he picked up 3 wickets for 39 runs.
In reply, Mumbai Indians were cruising at one stage with 141/3 in 14 overs. However, some tight bowling in the next few overs put MI behind and they needed 17 runs off the final over.
