Sanath Jayasuriya Meets Mammootty: Jayasuriya urges Indian stars to visit Sri Lanka – In the same post, the Lankan tourism brand ambassador also urged Indian stars to visit Sri Lanka, which has been struggling to pay for even basic necessities like food, medicine, and fuel. The government also owes $51 billion and is struggling to pay the principal amount big time.
With the country reeling under such an economic meltdown, Jayasuriya is trying his bit to help Sri Lanka get on track.
Earlier, the Australian team donated the entire prize money to locals who were desperately in need of basic amenities. Cricket Australia (CA) shared a post on Twitter and said, “Our Aussie men have donated their prize money from the recent tour of Sri Lanka to support children and families impacted by the nation’s worst economic crisis in decades,” CA wrote on their official Twitter handle.
The donation will go to UNICEF. Australia Test captain Pat Cummins who is also a UNICEF brand ambassador was pivotal in giving the prize money to the Lankan people during the team’s three Tests, five ODIs, and three T20Is tour. Australia have donated a total of 25,36, 294 lakhs in INR. This incredible gesture by the Australian cricket team was lauded by all.
