In 2019, the same year that he won the Caribbean Premier League championship with Paarl Royals’ partner team, the Barbados Royals (then known as Barbados Tridents), the 38-year-old left-hander, Duminy, retired from cricket. Since then, he has entered the coaching industry, working as a batting consultant for the domestic team Lions and as a strategic consultant for the South African men’s team in 2021. Notably, he most recently served as the head coach of Paarl-based provincial side Boland, as well as the Paarl Rocks domestic T20 side.

After adding the talented batter, Jos Buttler of England, Obed McCoy of the West Indies, David Miller, and Corbin Bosch of South Africa to their roster, head coach Duminy will be joined by Richard Das Neves, another well-known name in South Africa’s cricket coaching scene.

Das Neves, a former bowling all-rounder for Gauteng, will serve as the Paarl Royals’ strategy and spin bowling coach. Das Neves will help the bowling department plan for the SA20 with his wealth of expertise from numerous coaching jobs in local cricket, primarily with the Titans, and international coaching experiences with Namibia and Hong Kong.

Mandla Mashimbyi, a former pacer for the Titans and Northerns, is slated to act as the fast bowling coach and has a track record of success. The 41-year-old was involved with the South African national team as their fast bowling coach for a brief period of time last year, in addition to many of his significant roles in domestic cricket.

The Royals’ batting coach will be Mark Charlton, who received the “Division 2 Coach of the Season Award” at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards ceremony last month.

SA20 League: Lisa Keightley and AT Rajamani also in the coaching staff

Lisa Keightley, a former Australian women’s cricket player, has joined the Royals’ support team as the tactical performance coach. The two-time World Cup champion will be a valuable addition to the Royals because of her expertise in player management, strategy, and tactics.

Additionally, the Boland Park-based team announced the appointment of Russel Aspeling as the team catalyst, a title originally coined by the Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2022 season.

The position of strength and conditioning coach will be filled by AT Rajamani, who formerly worked for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and is currently with the Barbados Royals in the CPL. The Royals’ core analytics team will also be on site to offer their perspectives.
