To note, Gaikwad is behind star batter Virat Kohli and KL Rahul after managing to score just ten runs in the final IND vs AUS T20 encounter.
Virat Kohli holds the record for scoring the most runs by an Indian player in a bilateral T20 series. The right-handed batter stroked 231 runs during a five-match T20I series against England at home in 2021. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 223 runs in five matches in the ongoing IND vs AUS T20 series.
KL Rahul on 2nd Spot
While Virat holds the record for scoring the most runs in a T20I bilateral series, KL Rahul is on the second spot. The wicketkeeper-batter had smashed 224 runs across five matches against New Zealand in 2020.
Speaking about Ruturaj Gaikwad numbers in the T20 format, the 26-year-old has played 18 matches so far. In his young T20 career, Gaikwad has amassed 490 runs at a strike rate of 142.03. He also has three fifties and one century to his name and averages 37.69 in the 20-over format. Gaikwad will be looking to continue his red-hot form in the upcoming IND vs AUS 5th T20.
