Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Indian Asian Games Cricket squad showed their support for the Indian hockey team from the stands during their dominant 10-2 win against Pakistan in the Pool A match at the ongoing Asian Games on Saturday at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium. Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored four goals, with Varun Kumar, Mandeep Singh, Sumit, Samsher Singh, and Lalit Kumar Upadhyay also contributing to India’s biggest-ever win over their arch-rivals. Early in the second half, Pakistan’s defensive mistake led to India receiving their second penalty stroke. Harmanpreet Singh executed it perfectly with a precise scoop, completing his hat-trick. Just a minute later, Indian captain Harmanpreet converted a penalty corner, extending their lead to 6-0.
Varun Kumar scored by tapping the ball into the net after receiving a pass from Sukhjeet Singh, making it 7-1 in favor of India. However, Pakistan managed to pull one goal back when Abdul Rana converted a penalty corner. India entered the final quarter with a 7-2 advantage.
The fourth quarter began with Shamsher Singh receiving an excellent pass inside the circle and successfully finding the net, increasing India’s lead to 8-2. Pakistan gave Lalit Kumar Upadhyay plenty of space, and the Indian forward capitalized on it by scoring the ninth goal for his team.

Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co is set to start their Asian Games journey with the quarterfinals scheduled for October 3. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are the four teams that have advanced directly to the quarterfinals.
