Rajasthan Royals Innings Highlights: Chasing a target of 198, Rajasthan Royals sent in Ravichandran Ashwin to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jos Buttler suffered a finger injury and did not open. However, despite a good start, Jaiswal failed to carry on the momentum and fell to Arshdeep Singh.
RR’s Ashwin gamble also fell flat as he too was dismissed by Arshdeep. While Nathan Ellis dismissed Jos Buttler to deal a big blow, Sanju Samson kept hopes alive with a 25-ball 42.
But he too failed to make it big as he also fell to Nathan Ellis (4/30). RR had almost lost hope with Devdutt Padikkal and Riyan Parag departed in quick succession. However, Hetmyer (18-ball 36) and Dhruv Jurel rekindled their hopes with a brilliant 26-ball 61-run stand.
However, with Sam Curran bowling a brilliant last over and Hetmyer being run-out, Rajasthan could not secure 16 runs in the last over. They could only manage 192/7.
Punjab Kings Innings Summary:
Sent to bat, Prabhsimran Singh Gill gave Punjab Kings a flying start. At no time, did he let PBKS feel the absence of Jonny Bairstow in the opening. With Shikhar Dhawan playing the anchor role, Prabhsimran played the big shots, taking PBKS to 63/0.
The youngster got to his maiden IPL half-century two overs later in just 28 balls. But the assault did not last long as Jason Holder dismissed him for 60 off 34 in the 10th over.
While PBKS expected a lot from Bhanuka Rajapaksa, they suffered a blow. Shikhar Dhawan struck hard and unfortunately, it hit Rajapaksa on the forearm. Wincing in pain, the Lankan star was forced to retire hurt.
But just as Punjab needed, Shikhar Dhawan took charge. With a 33-ball 66-run stand with Jitesh Sharma, Dhawan brought up his half-century off 34 balls. It was his 50th half-century in IPL.
While PBKS lost steam when Yuzvendra Chahal bagged his 171st IPL wicket to dismiss Jitesh Sharma, Dhawan kept going. With a 37-run stand with Shahrukh Khan, he took Punjab Kings to 197/4 in 20 overs. PBKS skipper remained unbeaten on 86 off 56.
