RR vs KKR IPL 2021 match highlights: Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a slow start with Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana finding it difficult to score against disciplined bowling from Rajasthan pacers. However, Shubman Gill once again failed to get going after he was run out by Jos Buttler with KKR reeling at 25/1 after the end of powerplay.
While Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana looked to anchor the KKR innings, a short ball from Sakariya sent Rana back on 22. Sunil Narine, promoted to No 4, could not last long either. Captain Eoin Morgan, who has been going through a rough patch, also departed early after a mix-up between him and Tripathi cost him his wicket without facing a ball.

After winning the inaugural edition of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals have drawn a blank in the last 13 years. With the firepower that they have, RR have underachieved to put it bluntly. As for Kolkata Knight Riders, the last few seasons haven’t gone according to plan. With dwindling a middle-order despite the presence of some of the best players in the world, KKR have struggled. However, the most difficult thing has been the way they have missed out. In the last two seasons. KKR have missed out on the playoffs on net run rate. Hence, not only they will have to win, they will need to win big to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs.
