Talking about Lukaku at Radio Rai, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta told, “Romelu loves the shirt he wears, he is very comfortable at Inter. These are fundamental aspects, this desire of his to be with us. But he is on loan until June 30. He will return to Chelsea, and we don’t know what will happen on a technical level at that club. At the moment we are at the window.”

Currently, Lukaku is on his second stint at Inter Milan, but this time on loan, which will end this summer. He has only played one season at Chelsea after the club spent £98 million ($112m) on his transfer in 2021. Now that he’s in better shape and better form than last season, Chelsea will be expecting to have his services next summer. However, if Lukaku wants to stay at Inter, the club will have to pay a good sum for his transfer as his contract at Chelsea still has 3 years left in it.

The Belgian international joined back Chelsea from Inter Milan in 2021. But soon after, he stoked controversy claiming that he’s “not happy” with the situation at the club and wished his return to Inter. Chelsea allowed Lukaku to leave the Stamford Bridge on a loan to the Italian club in the summer of 2022.

Lukaku has scored 13 goals in all competitions till now, 2 less than he scored at Chelsea in his previous season. The stat might not speak of his improvements since re-joining Inter. The 30-year-old is in better shape and has rekindled his spark, which can be seen during games.

Chelsea are in search for a new striker as Lukaku’s situation remains unclear for them. Their current number 9, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also set to leave the club at the end of the season.

It’ll be interesting to see the structure of Chelsea’s side under the new manager and Lukaku’s involvement in it.
