Many fans believe that The Tribal Chief should have handed the championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. The American Nightmare is still thought to be the one to finally dethrone Reigns even though that did not happen.

The 2023 Royal Rumble champion and company’s sexiest babyface was Cody Rhodes. When Rhodes faced Reigns, the crowd was entirely in support of him, but as soon as Reigns won, the crowd’s enthusiasm vanished as they saw there would be no new champion.

According to Dave Meltzer, Cody Rhodes is thought to be the candidate chosen by WWE to unseat Roman Reigns. Even though he didn’t ”Finish the Story” at WrestleMania 39, he will eventually do so. Before that, though, Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa are set to fight each other.

Before his two titles merged, Reigns was technically the Universal and WWE Champion. He is currently merely the WWE Universal Champion, Undisputed. Reigns now holds a title that didn’t exist before, prompting fans to inquire about his ancestry once more. Does WWE choose which lineage Reigns continues to add to, or has he formed a totally new one?

Cody Rhodes lost at The Show of Shows, and Eric Bischoff stressed that it wasn’t a mistake. He stated that his viewpoint changed right away following the fight. However, Bischoff’s opinion has been shaped by recent work from the WWE creative team, prompting him to speculate about Rhodes’ potential for a more bright future.

The company has expanded despite The American Nightmare’s failure, according to Dave Meltzer’s observation in the aforementioned piece. It is therefore questionable whether WWE made the right decision by having Roman Reigns keep the title if the business is growing with him as the top champion.
