Roger Federer Street – Roger Federer Hometown: Swiss tennis great Roger Federer’s hometown won’t be naming a street after him – at least for now. Officials and politicians in Basel have begun discussions on how to honour the 20-time grand slam singles champion, who retired from the ATP tour last month. But city surveyor Paul Haffner ruled out prospects of Federer getting his own street, an accolade already bestowed on him by some Swiss and German cities:  Follow Tennis News updates on InsideSport.IN

“The policy in Basel is that only deceased individuals have a square or a street named after them,” Haffner told Swiss broadcaster SRF.

Roger Federer Hometown: Federer without doubt is Basel’s most famous ever resident and one of the world’s best recognised sportsmen. The city authorities have already dedicated Federer a tram in the city.

The TRAM is called Federer EXPRESS. Now even discussions are under way on dedicating a building to him.

What is Federer Express? It was all aboard the Federer Express is a TRAM named in Basel in honor of Swiss legend. The TRAM started in 2021.

The TRAM is Painted head-to-toe with images from Federer’s playing days. It is decked out inside with factoids about his career and even seats in the style of on-court player benches. The tram is a traffic stopper in BASEL.

“The project was very important to me. That is why it is a great honour for me to be able to see the tram on the streets of Basel in the future,” Federer had said when it was inaugrated last year.
