MS Dhoni Retirement on HOLD, Thala to take call in December, says ‘I have 8-9 months to decide’

In advance of the playoff game at Chepauk Stadium, Uthappa posted a photo of himself and his son on Twitter supporting the team while sporting a CSK jersey. Even though the tweet was simple and just expressed his affection for his previous team, not everyone was happy with it. A fan questioned why he had not exhibited the same adoration for KKR despite just playing two seasons for CSK.

Uthappa responded strongly, seemingly taking a dig at the two-time champions. “Bro played one-two seasons with Chennai and sold his soul I have never seen him supporting Kkr like this,” the fan wrote. “Loyalty and respect is a give and take my friend!!,” Uthappa replied.

For those who are unaware, Uthappa has represented six IPL franchises. From 2014 to 2019, the right-handed batter was a member of the KKR. A move to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) followed Uthappa’s signing by Rajasthan Royals (RR) during IPL 2020. with the next two seasons, he competed with the latter team before declaring his retirement. In 2021, the Super Kings won their fourth IPL title with his participation in the squad.

According to rumours, Uthappa felt dismayed when Dinesh Karthik was chosen as KKR’s captain in 2018 as opposed to him after the mega-auction. The team released Gautam Gambhir, who had led Kolkata for six seasons beginning in 2012. In his debut season with the team, Karthik, who KKR picked up at the 2018 auctions, was made captain, while Uthappa was made vice-captain.
