The 25-year-old, who was on his way to his hometown Roorkee to surprise his mother, suffered injuries on his head, back and feet in a road accident on Friday morning, according to police. Hospital authorities have said that his condition is stable.

Ever since the news of the accident broke out, several rumours have broken out. Some reports suggested that the 25-year-old was ‘drunk’ while driving which caused the accident.  However, Haryana police have debunked those claims saying there were no traces of intoxicants in the Indian wicketkeeper’s bloodstream. He was also not above the speed limit.

Speaking to a News18 correspondent, Haridwar SSP Ajay Singh said, “there’s no information of alcohol consumption by the India cricketer in medical reports and he was driving within limits.”

Pant has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back.

He is admitted to Max Hospital in Dehradun. He underwent plastic surgery on Friday and a call on further treatment is awaited. Since his admission, several high-profile officials and celebrities have visited the cricket. Delhi teammate Nitish Rana, Bollywood superstar Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher have all made visits.

The same has DDCA worried. Rishabh faces the risk of infection while which could hinder his recovery.

“Those who are going to meet Pant should avoid, as there are chances of infection. There should be no VIP movement to meet Pant, and people visiting him should avoid it as there are chances of infection for Pant,” DDCA director Shyam Sharma told ANI.

His condition is improving but the BCCI doctors who are constantly in touch with the doctors at the Max Hospital will take a call on whether or not he should be taken elsewhere for the treatment of his ligament injury, Umesh Kumar said.

“There are no immediate plans to shift him anywhere as his condition has improved substantially since yesterday,’ said Umesh Kumar who has been constantly with the family at the Max Hospital here.
