Richarlison GOAL: Richarlison scores his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur in the dying moments of the game. He equalizes with the hosts and celebrates by doing the penguin dance in his signature style. However, as he threw away his shirt in celebration, he received yet another yellow card. It seemed like another comeback was on the card for Tottenham Hotspur, but they managed to destroy the draw. The hosts, Liverpool went 3-0 up only 15 minutes into the game. However, it seemed like Spurs were making a comeback slowly but steadily. Harry Kane drew the first blood as he scored their first goal in the 39th minute. The second goal came from Heung-min Son in the 77th minute.

After the official 90 minutes were over, Richarlison pulled off the miracle equalizer 3 minutes into the injury time. This was not only his first goal of the season, but it was also his first goal for Spurs after he came to the club in 2022. He celebrated the only spectacularly as he threw away his shirt, ran to the fans, and then did his signature-style celebration, the penguin dance with his teammates.
While he did manage to silence Anfield for a minute with the magnificent equalizer, it literally lasted only a minute. Not even a full 2 minutes had passed after his goal, Liverpool pulled themselves back up through Diogo Jota. As a long ball flies near the Spurs’ box, rather than kicking it away far from the danger zone, tries to pass the ball to the goalkeeper. Jota picks up the loose ball from the left side and fires it into the far side of the net.
Fans have taken to social media with digs on Richarlison’s luck. This may have been his first goal for Spurs, but he did manage to put the ball into the back of the net another time this season. It was during Spurs’ Premier League match against Nottingham Forest and he celebrated the same way by taking off his shirt. However, that didn’t turn out well either as the goal was disallowed after the player was ruled offside.
Richarlison managed to collect his first yellow card that day for his celebration. Today, he received his second yellow for another celebration which was again, very short-lived. It has been pointed out how he now has more yellow cards (2) for goal celebrations this season than the actual number of goals he scored (1). This might not be his best stat to date, but everyone has bad days in the office.
