On Saturday night, it was announced that the Qatari consortium led by Sheikh Jassim had withdrawn from the bidding process for the acquisition of Old Trafford.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a British billionaire and chief executive of INEOS, is expected to announce the conclusion of an agreement to purchase a 25% shareholding in United.

Sheikh Jassim reportedly made a final effort to reach an agreement with Glazers. However, the negotiations were unsuccessful.

Following Qatar’s withdrawal from the takeover process, it has been reported that Manchester United have been denied access to three of the most highly-rated players in the world.

Jassim’s wish list

According to The Sun, Sheikh Jassim was planning a move for Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe among others.

Mbappe is one of the best players in the world, and the French club have always tried to show the star how much they value him, with reports of a mega contract with some interesting perks announced just last year.

The Frenchman’s current contract with PSG is set to expire at the end of the season. The World Cup winner looks likely to join Real Madrid.

Despite that, Sheikh Jassim was hoping to use his financial power to lure Mbappe away from Madrid.

That was not all, with the Qatari banker reportedly planning a scoop for two of Mbappe’s international teammates as well. The Sun reports Jassim was eyeing Eduardo Camavinga and Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman as well.

However, a move for either player would have been tough as their respective contracts are valid until 2027.
