Red Bull Honcho Marko Denies Max Verstappen From Partaking In Team’s Nordschleife F1 Run

Former F1 driver and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel is all set to make spectacular outings this year in numerous historical cars.

Former F1 driver and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel is all set to make spectacular outings this year in numerous historical cars. The first one in line is the Goodwood Festival of Speed scheduled in July. Vettel will take the wheel of Ayrton Senna’s 1993 McLaren MP4/8. This car will be running on sustainable fuel, to promote the environment-friendly future of the sport. However, the biggest event of the year would be his return to the Red Bull Nordschleife run.

Sebastian Vettel is going to share the garage with his 2014 teammate Daniel Ricciardo for the show run of the same team they were a part of back then. The season was particularly a significant one in many respects. A young Aussie came up and straight away owned the stage against the defending four-time world champion. Meanwhile, the Mercedes dominance era and Red Bull fall started that lasted another seven years.

Sebastian Vettel then moved on to Ferrari to try his championship luck in Red. Now, nine years later, Vettel is retired for good, while Ricciardo is serving reserve driver duties for his former team Red Bull. Fans are enthralled as the two will be back soon sharing the garage once again. Recently, while talking about the Nurburgring run, current Red Bull star Max Verstappen told he was denied the opportunity to go and be a part of it.

Max Verstappen is not allowed to drive at the Red Bull show run at Nurburgring

The Dutchman is having a dream season so far in 2023 with 5 race wins under his belt already. He is leading the championship with 170 points to his name after 7 rounds of racing. However, even after his impeccable on-track shenanigans, Red Bull honcho Helmut Marko ruled out the idea of him driving for the Red Bull special event.

“I wanted to do it, but I was not allowed by Helmut. He knew that I would try and go to the limits. I would have loved to do it,” said Max in a recent interview.

The fans and F1 insiders are well aware of the Dutchman’s tendency to push the limits of the car and gain the best out of it. It would be an obvious choice for him to have a go at the current lap record if he gets the wheel of an F1 car at Nurburgring. This might have been the primary concern of the team considering that it is just a promotional event.

“I would have definitely given it a go,” smiled Verstappen. “But you need not the demo tires and some proper tires, which is not allowed,” he added.

Vettel will take the wheel of his 2011 championship-winning RB7 while Ricciardo will showcase his racing charm in the 2012 RB8. Tell us how excited are you about this event in the comments below.
