Record 4.3 Cr fans tune in to watch Virat Kohli equal Sachin Tendulkar on Disney+ Hotstar

The viewership turned out to be the highest ever in digital streaming history.

The live streaming viewership for the IND vs NZ World Cup match on Disney+ Hotstar crossed over 4 crore on Sunday and set a new viewership record. The streaming viewership reached a peak of 4.3 Cr when Virat Kohli was on verge of equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries in ODIs. The viewership turned out to be the highest ever in digital streaming history.

The previous record for India International matches was 3.5 crore for the IND vs PAK match in World Cup 2023, which was also streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

However, fans were left disappointed as the Kohli got caught on 95 and missed out on reaching his 49th ODI ton.

While Kohli missed out on a much deserved century, he ensured India register their 5th straight win in the World Cup 2023. The batter received good support from Ravindra Jadeja who remained unbeaten on 39.

While Virat Kohli was the wrecker in chief with the bat, it was Mohammad Shami who shone with the ball. The pacer, who was playing his first game of the World Cup 2023, picked up his 2nd five-wicket haul in tournament history and helped India to stage a comeback.

Earlier, Daryl Mitchell (130) along with Rachin Ravindra (75) punished Indian bowlers. The duo stitched a 159-run partnership before Shami broke Kiwis back and bundled them out for 273.
