Erdogan was declared the winner with 52.14% of the vote, according to the preliminary official results released by Turkey’s Supreme Election Council (YSK) on Sunday. Kilicdaroglu got 47.86% of the vote.

In the upcoming days, the outcome is anticipated to be announced. The referendum solidifies Erdogan’s legacy as he continues his five-year, 20-year dominance.

He had already surpassed Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who established the Republic of Turkey and served as president for 15 years.

UFC Legend Khabib Nurmagomedov Gives Honest Take On Recep Tayyip Erdogan Winning Turkey Presidential Elections 2023

Erdogan appeared to celebrate his victory outside his Istanbul home before the results were made official, singing loudly from atop a campaign bus. He praised the country in front of a sizable group of delighted supporters waving the Turkish flag.

He thanked the citizens for gifting everyone with a day of democracy. He said all the 85 million citizens of the nation are the winners of the election.

After early results put Erdogan in the lead, hundreds of supporters gathered outside the Justice and Development (AK) Party’s Istanbul headquarters. Some others brought their kids, while others waved flags, honked horns, and let off pyrotechnics and flares.

Turkey is now a highly divided country as a result of Erdogan’s triumph over Kilicdaroglu, a 74-year-old bureaucrat and leader of the left-leaning CHP.

UFC Legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has also given his best wishes to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his victory.

The opposition has referred to the election as the final chance for Turkish democracy, accusing Erdogan of weakening the judiciary’s authority and stifling dissent throughout his 20 years in office.

A failing economy and a bungled early response to the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and neighbouring Syria on February 6 are further challenges for Erdogan.
