Real Madrid Transfer: Real Madrid have many things to focus on at the end of the season and one of the most important ones for them is renewing the contract of 3 of the greatest players to walk Santiago Bernabeu. The contracts of Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, and Toni Kroos expire at the end of the season. Coach Carlo Ancelotti has given the news that they might just stay at the club next season. Both 37-year-old Luka Modric and 33-year-old Toni Kroos have been playing comparatively lesser time. However, whenever they are included in the team, they make a great difference. Modric along with Benzema has won 5 Champions League together, while Kroos has won 4 Champions League titles for Real Madrid.

Luka Modric joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2012. Toni Kroos joined the club two years later in 2014 from Bayern Munich. Whereas, Karim Benzema joined long back in 2009 from Lyon and has the majority of his career with Los Blancos. Till now, he has scored a total of 348 goals in 636 games and has become the second top goalscorer for Real Madrid, only after Cristiano Ronaldo.

35-year-old Karim Benzema has not only been a part of the regular squad, but he has also gotten better over the last few seasons. Benzema scored his career-best 44 goals from 46 appearances last season. He helped Real Madrid win another La Liga and another Champions League. He even won the Ballon d’Or for his contribution last season.

Till now, Benzema has scored 25 goals in 31 games this season. Hence, even though Real Madrid will surely be desperate to keep Karim Benzema for as long as his peak form remains, it’s still unsure whether Kroos or Modric will be renewing the deal. All three contracts end in June, 2023, so if Real Madrid are to extend their deals, then they will have to do it fast.

Carlo Ancelotti has cleared some doubts by saying, “‘I think [they] will stay. We have to evaluate the players not by their age but by what they do. You can think the three don’t have the physical profile or energy of the younger players, but what these three have in terms of game management is unique, you can’t buy it on any market in the world. This is born with experience – age takes something from you, but it gives you something back as well.”

Real Madrid are having a good season as they have very recently qualified for the Copa Del Rey final, reached quarter-finals of the Champions League, and won the 2022 Club World Cup at the start of this year. They are also second in the La Liga table behind table-toppers Barcelona trailing by 12 points with 11 matches still left to play.
