RCB have 14 points in their hands after 13 games with 7 wins and 6 losses. They currently sit at the fourth place on the IPL 2023 Points Table. They still have one more league match to play against the Gujarat Titans on Sunday, May 21. To earn a spot in the IPL playoffs in 2023, RCB will face tough competition from Mumbai Indians.
Now, RCB must defeat Gujarat Titans and hope Mumbai Indians lose to SRH in their last league match. If so, RCB will be unable to go below the fourth position in the league stage. If Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants lose their respective last games, RCB would still have a good opportunity to finish in the top two with a GT victory.
If RCB defeat GT, even a victory the five-time winners may not be enough to overtake them. If RCB loses to GT, they will be left with 14 points, which means that CSK, LSG, and MI will all have a chance to pass them if MI defeats SRH. Rajasthan Royals with 14 points, will qualify if MI loses and GT defeats RCB by more than six runs or with four balls left.
