There were hints about Faf du Plessis returning to lead the side in full capacity in the previous game. The Proteas veteran has been taking part in RCB’s game as an impact sub. Du Plessis suffered an abdomen injury and thus for the past 3 games he only took an active part in the batting and opted to stay on the bench when RCB were bowling. In his absence, stand in skipper Virat Kohli has been leading the side.

“It was unexpected but nothing I’m not used to (stand-in captaincy). It’s been fun so far because of the way the team has been playing. Faf will be playing the impact role again. Hopefully he’ll be back leading from the next game,” said Virat Kohli during the toss against Kolkata Knight Riders.

But with Faf almost fit from his injuries, he is expected to lead the side from the front again. Josh Hazlewood who had an Achilles injury in Australia way back in January is fit and keen on getting his start in this edition of the IPL. But with the addition of these two players, Shahbaz Ahmed and David Willey will make for the new additions.

The Batting lineup for RCB is set. Virat Kohli has been in tremendous form. Though Faf has misfired in the last couple of games, the skipper is just a knock away from blowing off his steam at the opposition. Glenn Maxwell too continues his fine form. The middle order and the finishers have been a trouble for RCB.

Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik and Suyash Prabhudessai will have to fire. Hazlewood if fit will spearhead the pace attack with Mohammed Siraj the purple cap leader and Harshal Patel. Wanindu Hasaranga will continue to weave his magic at the opposition.

RCB IPL 2023 Squad
