Ace Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has lauded Delhi fans for showing immense support for him and the whole Afghanistan team last night (October 15) during the ENG vs AFG game. The Afghans pulled off one of the greatest upsets in ODI World Cup history, beating defending champions England by 69 runs in the 13th match of the World Cup 2023.
The Delhi crowd at the Arun Jaitley Stadium stood firmly behind the Afghans, with the DJ at the stadium hyping them up with “jeetega bhai jeetega” chants. The crowd then replied with “Afghanistan jeetega”.
Rashid reciprocated this love towards fans, by taking to X (formerly Twitter) and writing a heartfelt note to his fans in Delhi.
“Delhi sach mein dil walon ki hai 🙌 A huge thank you to all the fans at the stadium who supported us and kept us going through out the game 🙏 And to all our supporters around the 🌍 thank you for your love 💙”, the leg-spinner tweeted.

“We always say that India is our second home. We love the crowd and they give a lot of love to us, that’s the main reason we love India. And wherever we go, like in every city, they come for us and they cheer for us and support us. So we are really happy with all the crowd and of course, we respect the crowd coming from Afghanistan, from different parts to the ground,” Afghanistan Team opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz said after their historic win.
