The selection panel, coach Amol Muzumdar, and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) all were in favor of Shaw to continue.
The report further claims that even Rahane’s view point was taken by the selectors.
“Captaincy is not important for someone like Ajinkya, who has achieved what was considered to be impossible for a cricket captain,” an MCA official told Cricbuzz.
“He has agreed to play as well as mentor the side. He will help restore the Mumbai glory in domestic cricket.
He has no ego issues over the captaincy and has no problem with Shaw as the skipper.”
During this Ranji season, he has also agreed to be the mentor of the team.
