- A total of 38 teams take part in the competition.
- It has all 28 states of India and four out of eight union territories having at least one representation.

- Four teams will be in each Elite Group and six teams in Plate Group.
- The Elite teams will play against each other and the Plate team will play against three teams from the group.
The competition is also named after the legendary first Indian player who played International cricket, Ranjit Singh Ji, who was also known as ‘Ranji’.
