Ramkumar Ramanathan improves winning streak after Kalaburagi title, makes it unreal 18-1

Ramkumar Ramathan won the Kalaburagi Open 2023 by beating Austrian David Pichler in straight sets, improving his winning streak in ITF.

When one thinks of tennis player Ramkumar Ramanathan, the first thought that comes to mind is, an unfulfilled career with a lot of potential. Early on in his career, Ramanathan had created ripples, by beating Somdev Devvarman, and Dominic Thiem as well. But apart from that, he doesn’t have much on his CV to show. Largely, he has struggled on the ATP circuit, failing to win matches, with only 24 wins to his name and 36 losses. Ramanathan’s best ranking ever has been 111, which he achieved in 2018, while right now he is languishing in the 600s.

But for a change, towards the end of 2023, Ramanathan has shown some great form in the ITF tournaments, winning 18 from the last 19 played. On Sunday, the 29-year-old won the ITF Kalaburagi Open after beating David Pichler of Austria 6-2, 6-1.

Ramkumar Ramanathan Record in Last Few Tournaments

Before this, last week he had pocketed the M25 Mumbai event, where he won five matches on the trot to take home the trophy. In the final, he beat Siddharth Vishwakarma 6-0, 6-4. His only loss in the period came in the end of October at M15 Davangere, where he lost in the semis Bogdan Bobrov. And just a tournament before that, Ramanathan had won the M25 Dharwad event too.
