‘Raise the bar’, Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag WARNS Marcus Rashford

Manchester United Head Coach Erik Ten Hag has warned attacker Marcus Rashford to enhance his game in preparation for the Premier League 2023-24 season.

Marcus Rashford scored 30 goals for Manchester United season 2022-23. Head coach Erik ten Hag, on the other hand, has urged him to “raise the bar” ahead of the Premier League 2023-24 season.

Ten Hag told reporters when asked what he is looking for from Rashford in the upcoming campaign: “For Rashy we expect him to raise the bar. He had a good season last year but that doesn’t give guarantees for another great season.”

Following a challenging phase in which his high standards were lowered, the England international striker experienced a welcome return to form last season. Rashford was the Red Devils’ star performance as they finished fourth in the Premier League.

With the Carabao Cup victory, they ended a six-year quest for a significant trophy. He has now signed a new deal at Old Trafford, but Ten Hag expects even more from the 25-year-old in 2023-24.

” Everything has to be right, his base, his foundation, attitude, lifestyle etc. But also to work on his game, work on the way of play for himself and [within] the team. We are looking for goals and Rashy, in this moment, proved he has a very good goalscoring record. But for himself he wants to make the next step and score more goals than last season.” he added.

Ten Hag had a rocky start to his tenure at Old Trafford, as United struggled to get off to a good start last season. However, he has turned things around and is now searching for further success.

“We have to raise the bar but to do that is necessary because the competition is very strong. We have many competitors to battle for the top four positions in the Premier League so it is going to be a huge battle. It’s not between two or three clubs, it’s between seven, eight or nine who can all finish in the top four. It’s going to be a really exciting league I’m sure.” he added.

During their tour of the United States, United will play one more game against Borussia Dortmund. It comes before returning to Europe to face Lens and Athletic Club in preparation for their Premier League start against Wolves on August 14.
