Raheem Sterling Chelsea: Raheem Sterling came to Chelsea during the last summer transfer window. He was brought in as a star signing with the intention of winning the league. However, at this point, they’re sitting in the 12th position in the league table with even a chance of falling into the relegation zone. If they manage to remain in the top flight, there will remain several problems to resolve. Their star player Sterling said targeting owner Todd Boehly the main solution should be giving the new manager full control. Follow Premier League LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Chelsea brought Raheem Sterling from Manchester City last year at the start of this season in a deal worth of around £50 million. Chelsea’s new owner, Todd Boehly brought in many other new players to win the league with Sterling. Chelsea brought Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Marc Cucurella, and Kalidou Koulibaly along with Sterling. Boehly brought in more players during the winter transfer window. It was all with the intention of winning the league this year under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel.
However, all of it started going wrong as Chelsea’s form started declining. Thomas Tuchel was sacked and Graham Potter was brought in for the manager’s job. However, he stayed less than 7 months and won only 12 out of the 31 matches he managed. He was also sacked and Frank Lampard took the job as a caretaker manager. Till now, Lampard has managed 6 matches and has won none. Chelsea is sitting in the 12th position in the league table with 5 matches left to play. Amidst these, they will still be facing Man City, Man United, and Newcastle United.
Chelsea are now 9 points safe from the relegation zone and it is still mathematically possible for them to fall into relegation. To top off their giant pile of problems, Chelsea now have a £121.3 million loss to recover from. However, for a bloated squad of 31 talented players, this could also be a solution. Hence, they will be selling many players in this summer transfer window. However, that will not solve all their problems. They will still have to appoint a new manager and as per Raheem Sterling, the main solution revolves around the manager.
As Sterling spoke to Sky Sports, he said, “I’m not one to tell the club what to do but from what I can gauge from where I was previously, organisation is the most important thing. Having a manager that has the final say on everything and it being his way with everyone having to follow that.” He added, “Successful teams always have a manager that comes in, brings his blueprint and everyone follows. If there are people that don’t follow, then they are not part of the team and that is how brutal it needs to be at a high level.”
As per Sterling’s words, if Chelsea are to get out of the position they are in and fight for the top spots, they will have to follow the manager’s words. He said, “It’s a fine line between winning, coming second and being in the position we are now. It’s about everyone being on the same page from my experience.” If Chelsea manage to get out of this pit they’re in and manage to stay in the top-flight competition, following the instructions of their new manager to a ‘T’ could help them. Now, it’s a matter to see who takes responsibility for the club next.
