PSL 2023: Ramiz Raja compare IPL with PSL- In a bid to elevate the status of PSL, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja hinted at introducing an auction process similar to the IPL. Follow PSL Live Updates on InsideSport.IN
Responding to the comments, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra, insisted that even if there is an auction in the PSL, no player can bag a price tag for ₹16 crore in the league because the market dynamics “are not going to allow that to happen.” And it was only in the previous year’s auction, Rajasthan Royals had bought South Africa’s Chris Morris for ₹16 crore.

“The market forces are conducive, but we’ll sit down with the franchise owners to discuss it. This is a game of money. When the cricket economy grows in Pakistan, our respect will rise. The main driver of that financial economy is the PSL. If we take the PSL to auction model, increase the purse, then I’ll put it in the IPL bracket. And then we’ll see who goes to play the IPL over the PSL,” Ramiz had said.
Ramiz Raja plans to introduce the AUCTION process: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja opined for a paradigm change introducing auction process that can put the Pakistan Super League (PSL) ahead of IPL and also uplift the socio-economic muscle of the tournament. The current idea is to replace the player draft system for recruiting players and rather incept an auction system as employed by teams in IPL
The auction system involves players going under the hammer with the various teams placing bids to secure their services. This ensures players end up landing lucrative deals.
