Paris Saint-German manager Christophe Galtier and his son John Valovic-Galtier has been taken into police custody in Nice over suspicions of discrimination when he was the coach of OGC Nice.

According to RMC Sport, Galtier and his son were taken into police custody on Friday morning as part of an investigation.

Notably, the PSG boss was accused of making racist comments toward Black and Muslim players in his previous club. A leaked email revealed that Galtier allegedly made discriminatory comments on Black and Muslim players.

The 56-year-old, who is set to be axed as PSG manager this summer, spent one season with Nice.

Galtier has been also accused of not allowing Muslim players to observe Ramadan, and turning down a signing due to a player’s religion.

However, Galtier denied the allegations in a statement and said that he was “stunned to learn of the insulting and defamatory” claims made against him.

“I have decided to take legal action against those who have violated my honour and I can only be satisfied with the opening of an investigation,” Galtier had said in a news conference.

“As many of you I was stunned by the comments that were attributed to me and that were relayed in an irresponsible manner,” Galtier added.

“I am a child of the HLM estates raised in diversity, raised to respect others no matter their origin, their colour or their religion.”

PSG is yet to make a comment on the arrest.
