Pro Kabaddi PKL 8: U Mumba takes on Patna Pirates; Bottom dwellers Telugu Titans and Gujarat Giants face each other

U Mumba vs Patna Pirates [7.30 pm]

U Mumba are on a five-match unbeaten streak and will look to continue their impressive performance against an opponent that is also riding high on confidence.

In the raiding department, Abhishek Singh and Ajith Kumar have been terrific, picking up 116 points between them. A big concern for U Mumba will be the fitness of Ajith Kumar, the raider from Tamil Nadu has picked up 59 raid points in seven games so far and has been instrumental in U Mumba’s good show so far. However he suffered a back injury during the last game and he was taken out of the mat for medical assistance. It remains to be seen whether he will be fully fit for this fixture. If Ajith is ruled out, then Abhishek Singh has to do the bulk of the scoring.

Patna comes into this contest after a narrow one-point win over Gujarat Giants in their previous encounter. Sajin C has been impressive in the defence for the Pirates as he picked up his first High 5 of the season in the last game. Pirates have a well-rounded squad with Sachin and Monu Goyat firing in the raids. The battle between the two teams placed third and fourth in the league table at the moment promises plenty of action.

Gujarat Giants vs Telugu Titans [8.30 pm]

Gujarat enters this contest after a narrow defeat to Patna Pirates in their last game. For the Giants, cover defenders Parvesh Bhainswal and Sunil Kumar are doing a good job in the tackles. But their raiders have to step up and deliver for the team that is languishing second from last in the points table.

The Titans, on the other hand, are still searching for their first victory thsi year. With their talisman Siddharth Desai suffering injury and captain Rohit Kumar struggling with inconsistency, the team lacks firepower and inspiration.

Young raiders Ankit Beniwal and Rajnish have starred on various occasions and there have been few good performances from Ruturaj Koravi and Sandeep Kandola but it has never been enough to take the team to victory. Yet another big challenge awaits them when they take on Gujarat.
