After horrendous show in the last two editions of the Pro Kabaddi League, Telugu Titans are eyeing redemption. They have taken the first step towards making a comeback in the league by acquiring the services of Indian Skipper Pawan Sehrawat for a record amount at the auction recently. InsideSport takes a complete look at the team’s performances over the years and their squad for the upcoming 10th season of the league.

Telugu Titans performances over the years

Telugu Titans are one of those teams yet to win the title in the Pro Kabaddi league so far. Despite the presence of some star players like Rahul Chaudhari and Siddharth Desai, the team made it to the semifinal only twice in the history of the league. On both the occasions, the team failed to win the knockout and did not advance to the final.

However it has been seven years now since the team last reached the semifinal stage. The Titans finished last in the points table for the last two consecutive seasons. They managed just three wins from both the seasons combined.

Telugu Titans Retained Players

Opting for a complete overhaul of the team, the management decided to retain only the experienced defender Parvesh Bhainswal ahead of the auction this year.

They let go of several other big names like Raiders Siddharth Desai and Monu Goyat. Defenders Vishal Bharadwaj and Surjeet Singh also failed to retain their place in the team.

Apart from Parvesh Bhainswal, the team showed faith in youngsters Rajnish Dalal, Nitin, Mohit and Vinay Redhu by retaining them in the list of young players ahead of the auction.

How the team fared at the auction?

With an aim to go all out on a big raider, the team splurged their money on Indian captain Pawan Sehrawat. After a bidding war, the team successfully won the battle and acquired the services of the 27-year old for a whopping 2.67 crores.

With this Pawan Sehrawat became the most expensive player yet again the league. Last year he was bought for 2.2 crores by Tamil Thalaivas.

Apart from Pawan, the team also bought back Iranian Hamid Nader. They bolstered their defence with the addition of another Iranian in Milad Jabbari. Defenders Shankar Gadayi and Gaurav Dahiya and raider Omkar Patil were also bought in the auction.

Telugu Titans – Squad

Apart from Pawan Sehrawat, the team does not have another big raider. They have to rely upon youngsters Vinay Redhu and Robin Choudhary to do the job of a secondary raiders. The team also has two young raiders in Praful Javre and Omkar Patil.

Defenders: Parvesh Bhainswal, Milad Jabbari, Mohit, Nitin, Gaurav Dahiya, Ajit Panwar, Ankit Jaglan

All-Rounders: Rajnish Dalal, Shankar Gadai, Hamid Nader, Omkar More, S Sanjeevi.
