Iran’s Kabaddi all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui became the most expensive player ever to be part of the Pro Kabaddi. He was bought for a staggering INR 2.35 Cr by Puneri Paltan, while his previous team, Patna Pirates did not exercise the FBM card. But his joy was short-lived as he could not sustain his position to the top for long.
Pawan Sehrawat Topples Iranian
Pawan Sehrawat reclaimed the tag of the most expensive Pro Kabaddi player in the league once again, as he went to the Telugu Titans for 2.605 Cr. He bettered his previous contract with Tamil Thalaivas at 2.26 Cr. Unfortunately, he was injured in the first match itself last year, and could not participate any further in the tournament. In fact, he had to undergo knee surgery as well but made a comeback in 2023. His numbers were brilliant in season 8, while playing for Bengaluru Bulls, where he scored 314 points.
Mohammadreza Shadloui Expensive for a Reason
Shadloui played for the Patna Pirates in seasons 8 & 9 and was one of the most successful PKL defenders there. In his debut season alone, he amassed 89 tackle points, followed by 84 in the next. Not only that, he is a very capable raider as well, and his talent was at full display during the Asian Games.
Once again, when the Pro Kabbadi 2023 starts in December, the lanky Iranian would be his team’s most important player in the left corner position, and the raiders will have to be wary of his much-famed ankle holds.
Fazel Atrachali Goes to Gujarat Giants
His compatriot and Pro Kabaddi veteran Fazel Atrachali also bagged a multi-crore deal with Gujarat Giants. The Iranian skipper went for a mammoth 1.60 Cr to become the fifth most expensive player ever.
