Adams’ shot deflected off Fred to enter United goal as Southampton took a 1-0 lead against the run of play.
The second half saw no difference. The visitors continued to enjoy more possession and hitting the accelerator on the break but missed opportunities nearly cost them three points. However, it was Mason Greenwood, who scored his second goal of the season as Manchester United levelled Arsenal’s Premier League record of 27 consecutive unbeaten away matches at Southampton.
Premier League: Manchester United levelled the scoreline 10 minutes into the second half with Paul Pogba setting up Greenwood. It was a team goal with Greenwood creating the chance and then Pogba setting him up with the final pass. McCarthy failed to save Greenwood’s left-footed low shot as United equalised 1-1.
However, it was United’s missed chances that could come back to haunt them. Greenwood and Fernandes both came close for the winner but failed to find the net. On the other hand, Southampton nearly won the match when Che Adams set up Adam Armstrong but the latter was denied by David De Gea in United goal.
