The 52-year-old overcame a difficult start to his reign at Old Trafford with shock losses to Brighton and Brentford in his first two games. After making huge changes to the line-up including dropping captain Harry Maguire, United won their next four games elevating them to fifth in the standings. Victories against Liverpool and Southampton in August came before wins over Leicester and Arsenal this month.

Erik’s victory also completes a full sweep, with striker Marcus Rashford winning the Player of the Month award. This is only the second time when such a feat has occurred, with Rashford and Solskjaer winning in the same month three years ago. Rashford scored twice and delivered two assists to win his first POTM award since January 2019. The Englishman beat the likes of Bournemouth’s Philip Billing, Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne, Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Everton’s Alex Iwobi, and Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey.
Rashford suffered an injury that kept him out of the England squad for the international break. However, he will be a key aspect for the Red Devils as they face their bitter rivals Manchester City in a highly-anticipated derby on Sunday. United haven’t played in the Premier League after the unfortunate passing of Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September with games against Crystal Palace and Leeds United being postponed.
